Description  Devils are creatures from the Hell. They stand ten feet tall and resemble a winged reptile with sharp fangs, long horns, and leathery, bat-like wings. They have a red colored body, which is covered by scales. Their eyes glow with a yellow light. Each demon will have different and unique features, however, all of them radiate an aura of fear, and mortal creatures who are able to sense their presence will flee in terror. They can attack with their sharp claw or use magic of awesome power.

In Mari

Cos Could not be dispelled
Devils  could not be disbanned remained till pop was gone.
Cos spell effect lasted for 48 hrs

I cant see where Cos and Devils the way they was in mari could be effective for a nether mage on lord till pillage is fixed.

In mari most black would pilliage rather than attack due to cos.

You forgot that, in Mari, when you tribute or pillage all the gold is "lost" to the demon prince. So I can't see how pillage can make a difference.

You said you can't see the purpose of CoS as it is now. Well, if you think of it as a "gaining ranks" spell, you won't never see. This spell is something different, it will hurt a lot some enemy mages, but the black mage using it will have a hard time recovering from it. Forget about using it for gaining land, or to maintain a position on top. Only in war matters it can be somehow useful, but the casting mage will probably be killed(or left in the lower bottom of the ranking) after the enemy is hit by the devils.

In Mari, few mages used this spell often, and usually as a matter of "I will die or fall a lot, but you will repent for attacking me". Then they enjoy seeing the dead heroes, and spend a week recovering their mages a bit. Many newbie players used the CoS once, died, and never used it again. And the most experienced avoided using it except in desperate cases. Although it is a hard blow to loss your first stack and its hero, it is nothing a good player can't recover of without losing positions on rank.
